Navigating 'Black Swan' Events
The Origins and Meaning of Black Swan Events
Historically, the term "Black Swan" was derived from the old European assumption that all swans were white—until black swans were discovered in Australia, shattering this long-held belief. Scholar Nassim Nicholas Taleb used this metaphor to describe rare, high-impact events that lie beyond normal expectations. His research illustrated how the most significant historical and financial events were largely unforeseen, from the 2008 financial crisis to the emergence of disruptive technologies.

While we often associate Black Swan events with large-scale economic or global disruptions, they also manifest in deeply personal ways. I am a catalyst for transformation with 25+ years of diverse experience spanning business consulting, executive coaching, education & research, manufacturing, industrial projects, rental, and print & packaging industries. My career has taken me from boardrooms to startups, across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, working in fast-paced, multicultural environments, including with UHNWI.

With expertise in leadership development, career transitions, team dynamics, and strategy execution, I use a developmental enquiry-based coaching approach to align personal strengths with professional goals—ensuring sustainable success.

Victoria is a Development Coach, Director of Leader as Coach Ltd and Inclusive Executive Coaching & Leadership Development (IECLD) Limited. Victoria is the Head of International Growth & Corporate Membership and Accreditation at the Association for Coaching (AC) the leading global not-for-profit professional coaching membership body. Victoria is the Company Secretary of the Metalforming Machinery Makers Association and Victoria also sits on the Scholarship Coaching Team for The Marketing Academy, working alongside McKinsey, to develop CMOs into the CEOs of tomorrow.
